Los espectrómetros de RMN de campo bajo y de campo alto configurados con imanes permanentes o solenoides libres de criogénicos, se han estado abriendo camino como una opción viable para su implementación en docencia e investigación en muchas ramas de la química. El rápido crecimiento de este mercado se debe a la facilidad con la que se pueden obtener espectros de alta calidad desde fracciones de segundo a minutos y con un bajo costo de inversión. El acoplamiento de estos instrumentos a microrreactores de flujo continuo y su uso como sensores industriales ha permitido el monitoreo de procesos en tiempo real. La integración de experimentos de RMN con técnicas quimiométricas, ha conducido al desarrollo de equipos de RMN con múltiples presentaciones comerciales adaptados a las necesidades de los procesos industriales utilizados en aplicaciones para análisis de alimentos, materiales, fármacos, metabolitos y en la exploración de pozos petroleros.
